Effects of Reflexology on Post-Operative Pain Severity after Laparoscopic Appendectomy for Patients at Surgical Units

Background: Reflexology is a type of massage that involves applying different amounts pressure to the feet, hands, and ears. It based on theory that, these body parts are connected certain organs body systems. Aim: The study was aimed evaluate effect reflexology post-operative pain severity after laparoscopic appendectomy for patients at surgical units. Methods: A quasi experimental research design was utilized conduct this in general surgery department Benha University Hospital. purposive sample (60) adult patients post laparoscopic appedectomy were included study. Three tools were used; (Tool I) patients’ knowledge assessment questionnaire, II) patients’ practice observational checklist III) visual analogue scale to assess severity. Results: This showed most (study group) had an unsatisfactory level total inadequate practice regarding technique after pre intervention (22% 2%). result improved significantly regarding all and practice elements intervention, where majority satisfactory adequate (82% and 95%). Also, there marked improvement among study group intervention.While, no noticed the control group their knowledge, practice, and post intervention.Conclusion: current concluded performance of the intervention concerning has been greatly improved application supports first and second hypotheses. significant negative correlation between immediate for the third hypothesis. study recommended continuous in-service training programs repeating on a high probability achieve generalization findings.
